IELTS Writing Task 2 Topics 2026

Many argue that higher education should be funded entirely by the state so that talent is not limited by income. I largely agree, although completely free university may not be sustainable without limits. Free tuition widens access for low-income students who would otherwise avoid debt. Countries such as Germany show that public funding can maintain quality while keeping enrolment high. However, if every student pays nothing, governments may struggle to fund places, and graduates who benefit from higher earnings might fairly contribute later through taxation. Overall, I believe university should be affordable for all capable students, but modest fees or income-contingent loans can balance access with fiscal responsibility.
